Greenlight Mentality is an 8-week program for high school basketball players that trains shooting mechanics and the mental game together, because form breaks down when the mind does.

You can have perfect mechanics at 9am on an empty court and lose them at 7pm with a defender closing out and the crowd watching. More reps will help but won't fix the problem. Reps do not train the mind. That is why we built a program that trains both.
▶ Watch: 30 seconds with Coach Jason
I'm Jason Payne, a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) with a Master's in Sport and Performance Psychology and 25+ years of basketball coaching. I work with Elite Athletes, a basketball company in Belgium, have coached with Basketball Sask, and am the Director of Player Performance with the Golden Ticket Basketball Club, where I also serve as an assistant with the Post Grad program.
I've worked with basketball players from across the world on their mental game, from EYBL to European pro leagues. Most programs give you a shooting coach or a mental skills coach. Greenlight Mentality gives your athlete both, in the same gym, in the same session, so the mental skills are trained where they'll be used: with a ball in their hands.
15 athletes maximum. Registration takes 2 minutes.
Each 90-minute session pairs 45 minutes of mental performance training with 45 minutes of small-group shooting instruction.
By Week 8 your athlete has better mechanics, a pre-shot routine they trust, and the skills to reset after a miss instead of spiraling.
Every week trains one mental skill and one shooting skill, and they build on each other.
| Week | Mind (45 min) | Body (45 min) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Baseline: mindset assessment, goal setting | Form audit + filmed baseline shooting test |
| 2 | Confidence: where it comes from, how to build it | Foundation mechanics: base, balance, alignment |
| 3 | Self-talk: catching and replacing the inner critic | Release and follow-through corrections |
| 4 | Pre-shot routine: same shot, every time | Routine integration: catch-and-shoot reps |
| 5 | Focus: playing present, one shot at a time | Off-the-dribble and movement shooting |
| 6 | Reset skills: missing without spiraling | Pressure simulation: consequences, scoreboards, fatigue |
| 7 | Game pressure: nerves as fuel, not threat | Game-speed contested shooting |
| 8 | Putting it together: game-day mental plan | Retest + filmed comparison, celebration |
Every drill in those eight weeks is game-like. Contested, at game speed, with consequences on the line, because that is how the game asks your athlete to shoot. This is not form shooting done in isolation. The habits built here are the habits the game demands.
Every season your athlete plays scared is a season they don't get back. Confidence is not something kids grow out of struggling with. It is a skill, and skills have to be taught. The players who look fearless in big moments were not born that way. They were trained.
"Jason is truly world-class. His knowledge as a mental performance coach is exceptional — but what makes him special is how he makes every player feel seen and understood. His impact goes far beyond basketball."
— JOERIK · CEO, Elite Athletes Belgium
"Jason helped me rediscover my joy for the game. He gave me techniques to move on from self-talk that made every miss feel like ten. I was able to play free, and my performance skyrocketed."
— TOM, 16 · Former player
"Working with Coach Payne allowed me to find my in-game confidence. I was able to increase my shooting percentage, shoot hesitation-free, and try things on the court I would have never attempted before."
— LIAM, 20 · Former player

Great. Keep them. Nothing we teach conflicts with sound mechanics, and the mental training does not exist anywhere else locally.
It is for high school players who can already shoot but don't perform to their ability in games. Athletes are grouped by skill within sessions.
45 minutes of classroom-style mental performance training (interactive, not a lecture), then 45 minutes on the court applying it with a ball in their hands.
Each session's mental skills materials are sent home, and shooting concepts are reviewed at the start of the next session.
Jason has coached basketball for 25+ years. The shooting instruction is led by him with an assistant coach on the floor. The rare part is that the same staff trains the mental game.
Mondays 7:00–8:30pm in Saskatoon, starting September 14, for 8 consecutive weeks. Gym details are sent with your welcome email.
We cap the program at 15 athletes so every player gets coached, not supervised. Reserve your athlete's spot now.
